Julie Felix | Masters Of War
Released in the US on 30th January 2009

Umbrello Records is very proud to present the new album from legendary folk singer Julie Felix featuring John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on mandolin.

Julie Felix, a stunningly beautiful woman with an equally beautiful voice, was a star of the magnitude of Joan Baez in the UK in the 1960s and has been associated with some of the world's most important musicians including Paul McCartney, Leonard Cohen and Jimmy Page.

In 1966, Julie played with Bob Dylan at the immortal Isle of Wight concert. Now, over 4 decades later, she presents her first American album of Dylan songs.

Entitled Masters of War, the album includes Julie's stirring interpretations of nine Dylan classics including Mr. Tambourine Man, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Hard Rain, and I Shall Be Released... More info

Also released on VOD from the 14 Hour Technicolour Dream: V-Band project, is "The Creation of Reasons & Rituals", featuring music written by Steve Nardelli of The Syn, who also performs as co-lead vocalist.

Book of the Dead is a conceptual work with 5 songs presented as chapters. With ideas and stories taken directly from the Egyptian Book of the Dead, Ken Jaquess has weaved an intricate, ornate tale of Pharonic rule, death and their ultimate journey to the afterlife.

14 Hour Technicolour Dream: The Virtual Band was conceived by The Syn's founding member Steve Nardelli, and Steve Sikes-Nova, vocalist and creator of The Syn's official fan forum at: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/14Hour/
("Spirited Syn Discussion Since 2005").

It became clear to Steve Nardelli that there was a large number of musicians on The Syn forum and the concept came about that he would create a new song for the forum musicians to develop as part of a virtual band concept. This would be developed in parallel with the recording of the new Syn album, Big Sky, creating a unique relationship between a band and its fans.

The basic idea was to take an emerging technology where musicians across the world are able to collaborate over long distances and take it to the next level... Read More

March 22, 2009 – Steve Sauer of Led Zeppelin News, recently interviewed Steve Nardelli and Francis Dunnery of the progressive rock band The Syn. The interviews will be featured on a Zeppelin FM radio show in April. Nardelli and Dunnery discuss their views on "progressive rock" music and talk about The Syn's upcoming album, "Big Sky". Francis Dunnery recalls his experiences of recording in the studio and performing on tour with Robert Plant. Former Syn bassist Chris Squire is also featured discussing the XYZ project.
